From the youth set-up to the senior squad: SV Wehen Wiesbaden have handed U19 player Ben Bischof a professional contract. The 17-year-old has penned a deal with the Red & Blacks until 30 June 2022. Bischof joined the SVWW youth academy from partner club SpVgg Eltville as an U13 player.
"Ben is a player with a lot of potential, whom I have known since my time as a director at the youth academy. To put it simply, his consistently strong performances have earned him the chance to join the senior squad. Now it is up to him to take the next step, but we trust him to do so," said SVWW sporting director Christian Hock, who added: "We generally always want to keep the door to the senior squad open for our talented youngsters, even though the jump to the pros is a huge challenge for every youth player. We're convinced this is the right approach and shall continue to pursue it."
The defensive midfielder will have the opportunity to play for the Red & Blacks' U19s for another year. Last December, Bischof made his international debut for the Germany youth set-up as helped the U18s secure a 3-2 victory over Israel.
"I predominantly view Ben as a central midfielder, because he's a player who covers a lot of ground, has great dynamism and is a tough tackler," said SVWW coach Rüdiger Rehm, continuing: "He has an extremely professional attitude and works really hard on himself."
Bischof is proud to have signed his first contract as a professional: "It's a very special moment for me to be given a professional contract with SVWW. I've been playing here for six years and I feel very comfortable. I'm looking forward to the coming years and would like to repay the club's trust by performing well."
