SV Wehen Wiesbaden have prematurely extended Paterson Chato's contract by two years. The defensive specialist has penned a deal with SVWW which runs until 30 June 2023. His original contract was set to expire on 30 June 2021.
"Paterson has developed brilliantly during the course of the season and made huge progress," explained SVWW sporting director Christian Hock, adding: "We're all convinced that there is still room for further development and it was therefore clear to us at an early stage that we wanted to extend the contract prematurely."
The 23-year-old has played 18 games for the Red & Blacks this season, scoring one goal.
"His enormous running and tackling ability, as well as his outstanding attitude, are what set Paterson apart," head coach Rüdiger Rehm said of the left-footed defensive midfielder. "He never shies away from a challenge and has become a valuable enforcer in front of the defence for us."
Paterson Chato is also delighted to see his deal extended: "I'm delighted with the trust the management have shown in me and feel very comfortable at SVWW. At the beginning I needed some time to get used to the Bundesliga 2. But I stuck at it and things got better bit by bit. What I hope for now is that we can soon return to the pitch and fight to keep our place in the division."
