The training camp has begun: SVWW are in Oliva Nova. What started at around 6:45 CET on Tuesday morning at the BRITA Arena ended at 17:00 CET with the first one-hour session in the Spanish province of Valencia.
Even the predictable difficulties in the morning were not able to stop SVWW. After a delay of around two hours, flight LH 1160 took off towards Valencia, where it landed safely after two hours of calm flight time.
"There were no big cutbacks. We adjusted the schedule a little here and there, so there was no problem," said sporting director Christian Hock.
From the airport, the team took the bus for the journey of a little more than an hour to Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Hotel. As in the previous years, the hotel will be the team quarters and "home" for the Red & Blacks for the next eight days.
For the first session and to "loosen up", the team was welcomed by the Spanish afternoon sun at the training ground near the hotel. "Once again, we have optimal conditions, a top-class hotel facility, excellent weather and optimal pitch conditions. The boys have fun while training," added Hock.
"We are here for the fourth time and all that we have here speaks in favour of everything running smoothly and professional preparation. In MATCHIQ, we have a partner here who we can trust."
A total of 29 players have made the trip to Spain, where two friendly games are planned. On Thursday, SVWW will host their league rivals FC St. Pauli, before taking on Ferencváros at the same venue four days later.
